Meet Our Doctors
Dr. Yaa McDonald
Dr. Yaa McDonald received her undergraduate degree in the biological sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and then completed a Doctorate in Dental Medicine degree (DMD) at Southern Illinois University. Following her doctorate degree, she completed a two-year residency in Pediatric Dentistry, obtaining both a specialty certificate and a Master of Dental Science from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. During residency, Dr. McDonald was awarded the Graduate Student Research Award for her outstanding master’s thesis research on the periodontal ligament stem cells of human deciduous teeth.
Dr. McDonald is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She is adjunct faculty at Marquette University School of Dentistry, where she teaches pediatric dentistry to undergraduate dental students. Dr. McDonald is also currently a staff member at Children’s Hospital of Milwaukee, WI.
Dr. McDonald is a community advocate and enjoys volunteering. She has participated in activities such as Convoy of Hope, Jamaican Dental Missions, and in other local organizations. In 2010 was honored by Metro Achievement Center with the “Woman of Character Award.”
In her spare time, she enjoys trying new recipes, baking, exercising, hanging with family, friends and her dog Sophie. Dr. McDonald looks forward to giving your child a great dental experience!
Dr. Fredric Tatel
Dr. Fredric Tatel grew up in Chicago and attended Chicago Public Schools. He received his undergraduate degree in fine arts and a Masters in General Studies degree at Northwestern University in Evanston. After obtaining his dental degree, also from Northwestern, he decided he wanted to earn a specialty license in dentistry for children. He became an intern at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh for one year and then did a year of postgraduate study in pediatric dentistry at Marquette University in Milwaukee. Over the years, he has also acquired twelve hours towards a Masters in English at Northwestern and twenty three hours toward a Masters in Musicology at the Chicago Musical College at Roosevelt University.
Fredric Tatel, D.D.S. is a Diplomate and Fellow of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He holds the rank of Senior Lecturer at Northwestern University Medical School and he teaches in the General Practice Residency Program at Evanston Hospital. He consults for the surgical staff of Ingalls Hospital. He also holds membership in all of the local and national dental and pediatric dental societies as well as the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Orthodontic Society. He reviews articles for the Journal of the American Dental Association and has authored articles for the Journal of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Tatel enjoys biking, swimming, boating and study, with a special interest in languages. He and his wife, Faye, have one son, one daughter, and 3 granddaughters.
Meet Our Staff
Amanda is a devoted mother and a loving wife. She likes to spend her free time with family and friends; while crafting in her spare time. Amanda graduated as a dental assistant with high honors. Prior to entering the dental field she dedicated four years in the nursing profession. Amanda looks forward to giving your child a fantastic dental experience.
Jeanette has been in the dental field for four years. She loves working with children! Being the mother of a two year old daughter has given her the tools to better cater to her pediatric patients. In her free time Jeanette and her daughter Alaya enjoy going to the park looking for new adventures.
Andrea is a former patient of the practice. She has five years of experience working in the pediatric dental field. She enjoys working with children because they always bring a smile to her face. In the fall 2017 she will be attending Southern Illinois University. She loves us so much that she’ll be returning to help us during school breaks!
Jackie has a true passion for helping parents and their children achieve the smile they love. In her spare time, she loves to go to the Field Museum and walk down Lake Shore Drive with her four legged fur baby Mia.
